Principal's Corner
Greetings H. W. Byers Family,

My name is Bobby Sims and it is an honor and privilege to serve as your elementary principal. Although there is new leadership and new faces on campus, we will continue to focus on building a solid educational foundation for our students and community. It is our goal to develop the whole child, not just academically. It is important that our students learn and develop the skills that will help them become better students, such as giving a firm hand shake, making eye contact when communicating, and learning to articulate when speaking. These things along with many others will prepare our students for a brighter more successful future.

My education began right here in Marshall County. I attended ICS Headstart, Cadet (now Holy Family) and graduated from Holly Springs High School. I obtained my B.A. degree from Mississippi State University in secondary education. Upon graduating, I moved to Dallas, Texas where I attended Dallas Baptist University for my M. A. degree in educational Leadership. It was at this time that I learned the true meaning of servant leadership.

My career began in the Dallas County Juvenile Department. I served incarcerated, at-risk students ranging from age 10 - 17. After 3 years, I began teaching a much different population at a private school (Clay Academy of Dallas). During my time there I taught history and coached a variety of sports. In 2007 I began my administrative career as an assistant principal in the Arlington ISD. From 2007 to 2010, I worked at both the middle school and high school levels. Although older students are more mature and somewhat easier to work with, in 2010 I found my passion when I became an elementary principal at Ruby Young Elementary in the Desoto ISD. It was there that I realized just how moldable and important these early developmental years are.

Though education is extremely important to me, family is where my true passion lies. That's why my wife and I decided to move back home with our 2 kids in the summer of 2016. So now I have the opportunity to serve the community that gave me my foundation.

I truly look forward to a great year and look forward to working with you to make our community and its youth a place that everyone is proud to call home.

I'm here to serve you!
